London outdoorsLondon has many out door activities that vistors and residence can enjoy. Some of the outdoor activities you could enjoy in London are day walks, evening walks, weekend and longer walking trips, cycling and water sports.

Day Walks

Day walks are usually done in areas of outstanding natural beauty. These places are easily accessible by train from London. This includes the Chiltern Hills, North Downs, Greensand Hills and South Downs. Some people take day walks on the edge of London such as Epping Forest and along the coast. The average walking distance is around 10-12 miles. You can take a break and enjoy lunch at the pub and have afternoon tea.

Weekend or longer walking trips

If you fancy a trip away you can stay overnight in places that are cheaper, like youth hostels or independent "backpacker" hostels; You can also use other accommodation such as B&Bs, camping, bunkhouses, outdoor activity centres, budget hotels, pubs and self-catering apartments.

Other outdoor activities

There are plenty of places in London where you can go and enjoy cycling and water sports such as canoeing and sailing.

Please see the Central London Outdoor Group’s website for more information:
