The Thames River flows through southern England. It’s best known because it flows through central London, however the river also flows through several other towns and cities, including Oxford, Reading and Windsor.
The River Thames is the longest river in England and it has over 80 islands. It supports a variety of wildlife with its seawater and freshwater stretches. The river has supported human activity for thousands of years providing habitation, water power, food and drink. The river has also become a major leisure area supporting tourism and pleasure outings as well as the sports of rowing, sailing, kayaking, and punting.
